It’s been a very long and trying day, and to make matters worse, it’s only 2 o’clock. Between working from home, entertaining stir-crazy kids, managing zoom call after zoom call, all while trying to find balance in life during the times of a world-wide pandemic…I’m at my wit’s end. Standing in the kitchen surrounded by a typhoon of crazy (because let’s face it, I had given up on trying to reign in the kids), I remember I have a couple of squares of my favorite dark chocolate bar left in my secret stash.  Peeling back the wrapper, I take a bite.

As it slowly melts, the flavors fill my mouth and I’m transported to my happy place — sitting on a beach, with my feet in the sand, watching the sunset across the lake as a gentle breeze rustles the trees behind me. As the last morsel of chocolate melts away, the sound of my kids' bickering brings me back to reality. My fleeting moment of sweet serenity is gone, but I am restored and ready to take on the rest of the day.
