What to put in your kid's Easter Basket
Every year is a struggle to create the perfect kids Easter basket. Sure, there are TONS of different kinds of Easter candy you can find to fill an Easter basket. But, at my house, we try to limit the amount of sugar our kids consume. (Yes, I know it can be difficult, especially when your mom works at Lake Champlain Chocolates.) Whether you are looking to fill an Easter Basket for the young, or young at heart, we’ve compiled some great ideas for what to put in your kid's Easter Basket.
It doesn’t get any better than fresh, Vermont eggs. And why should our chocolate eggs be any different? These chocolate Easter eggs are made with only the best ingredients like organic and fair trade certified chocolate and filled with fresh, organic cream and they come in six delicious flavors. (I know, I know, the first on my list is chocolate. But, chocolate at Easter is inevitable, so go for quality over quantity.) The bold colors of these foil-wrapped eggs are sure to brighten up any Easter basket!
Sustainable kid's clothing company, Hanna Andersson, uses organic cotton and fair trade practices to make wonderful bright and cheery patterned dresses, hats and onesies that will last. This Miffy Print Dress will be perfect for your little one’s annual Easter egg hunt. The only question is, will they need this adorable Easter sweater too, or will the unseasonably warm weather we’ve been having in Vermont continue?
These charming Netsukes, handcrafted in Middlebury, Vermont by Danforth Pewter are perfectly sized for hiding as a prize inside your Easter eggs. Collect the whole line, or get multiples and use them as unique tic tac toe playing pieces.
No kids Easter basket would be complete without at least one toy. This wooden mancala board is made in Vermont and makes a perfect non-electronic activity for the older members of the family. (I think I see a game night in our future!)
Easter often marks the start of Spring and gardening season. For an alternative to candy and toys, why not add a couple packets of organic vegetable seeds from High Mowing Organic Seeds? We can’t think of a better way to encourage your little ones to get involved with learning about where their food comes from. Add a few kid-sized gardening tools from Gardner’s Supply and you are on your way to a pretty spectacular kids Easter basket.
What is an Easter basket without any grass? Forget the traditional plastic Easter grass. This year opt for a more family friendly, eco-friendly option – Eco Grass. This environmentally-friendly paper grass, made from 100% recycled papers comes in a number of fun shades and is biodegradable!
Now that you have some ideas for how to build the perfect kids Easter basket, what are you waiting for? Hop to it, Easter is March 31st.
